Acupuncture for Pregnancy in Kingsbridge, Chillington & Modbury, near Plymouth

Acupuncture is a fantastic form of treatment as it offers drug-free relief from many problems that can arise during pregnancy and birth.

With over 15 years of clinical experience working with women at different pregnancy stages and birth preparation, I have also used acupuncture through my own three pregnancies.

Can acupuncture help with pregnancy?

Many of the conditions I treat are often seen as a “normal” part of pregnancy that women have to put up with, but the relief that comes from addressing these conditions with acupuncture not only improves your quality of life but can also prevent them from becoming more serious.

I also offer pre-birth acupuncture which prepares a woman’s body for birth both physically and emotionally, too. I usually recommend coming for treatment once a week from around 37 weeks.

This is a great time to teach acupressure to a woman's partner or support people, which can make a significant difference in the level of pain experienced during labour.

Is acupuncture safe during pregnancy?

Acupuncture is safe during pregnancy and offers drug-free relief from many problems. Common pregnancy-related conditions that acupuncture can support and mitigate include:

  • Nausea and vomiting during pregnancy

  • Heartburn

  • Constipation

  • Musculoskeletal conditions (such as sciatica, symphysis pubis pain, carpal tunnel)

  • Fatigue and exhaustion

  • Insomnia

  • Anxiety and depression

  • Breech babies

How much does Acupuncture treatment for pregnancy cost?

Your first treatment, which lasts 75 minutes, costs £65

Follow-up treatments last around 45 minutes and cost £50 each.

* From Jan 2025 there will be a small increase in my prices to reflect rises in rent and insurance - first treatments will be £70 and follow ups £55.
